Hoshi

Kwon Soonyoung, known by his stage name Hoshi, is the main dancer, vocalist, and leader of SEVENTEEN's Performance Unit. Born on June 15, 1996, in Daejeon, South Korea, he began training at Pledis Entertainment at approximately age 12, making him one of the group's longest-serving trainees. His name "Hoshi," derived from the Japanese word for star, perfectly captures the radiant energy he brings to every performance.

Hoshi's role within SEVENTEEN extends far beyond dancing: he is the primary choreographer responsible for creating the synchronized, innovative group performances that have become one of SEVENTEEN's defining artistic signatures. He has personally choreographed or co-choreographed the majority of SEVENTEEN's title track performances, including complex synchronized routines for "CLAP," "Fear," "Left & Right," and "HOT." His creative vision has elevated K-pop choreography to new standards of precision and artistry.

On stage, Hoshi transforms from his offstage playful personality into an intensely focused performer. His technical ability — particularly in hip-hop and contemporary dance styles — combined with his performance energy has earned him the label "dance god" from fans and fellow industry professionals. The contrast between his cheerful, tiger-meme-ready daily persona and his powerful stage presence is one of SEVENTEEN's most beloved dynamics.

Hoshi enlisted for active duty military service on September 16, 2025, with an expected discharge date of March 2027. He joins Woozi, who enlisted one day earlier, in serving concurrent active duty service. Before his enlistment, he continued to create and perform choreography for SEVENTEEN's "Right Here" world tour, ensuring that the group's artistic legacy would continue even during his absence.
