About J-Hope
Jung Ho-seok, known by his stage name J-Hope, is the main dancer and a sub-rapper of BTS. Born on February 18, 1994, in Gwangju, South Korea, he was a skilled street dancer before becoming an idol trainee, winning local and national dance competitions. His energetic performance style and precise technique made him one of the most celebrated dancers in K-pop.
Within BTS, J-Hope serves as the group's dance leader, often overseeing choreography rehearsals and helping members refine their performances. His versatility extends to rapping and singing, with solo tracks like "Daydream," "Ego," and "Airplane" showcasing a playful, funk-influenced style distinct from BTS's other rappers.
J-Hope made history in July 2022 when he headlined Lollapalooza Chicago, becoming the first South Korean artist to headline a major US music festival. His performance was widely praised for its energy and production value. His debut studio album Jack In The Box, released that same month, explored darker, more experimental territory with funk, hip-hop, and old-school influences.
After completing his military service in October 2024, J-Hope became the second BTS member to return to civilian life. He released his second studio album Hope on the Street Vol.2 and participated in a documentary series about street dance culture, reinforcing his identity as one of K-pop's premier dance artists.
