About Rosé
Park Chae-young, known professionally as Rosé, is a Korean-New Zealand singer and the main vocalist of BLACKPINK. Born on February 11, 1997, in Auckland, New Zealand, to Korean parents, she grew up in Melbourne, Australia, and developed a passion for music from an early age, learning guitar and singing in her church choir.
Rosé auditioned for YG Entertainment in 2012 during the company's Australian auditions, ranking first among 700 candidates. After four years of training in Seoul, she debuted with BLACKPINK in August 2016. Her distinctive husky vocal tone and emotional delivery became one of the group's most recognizable signatures, setting her apart in a genre often dominated by brighter vocal timbres.
In March 2021, Rosé released her solo debut single album -R-, featuring "On The Ground" and "Gone." "On The Ground" debuted at number one on Billboard's Global 200, making her the first Korean solo artist to top the chart. The introspective lyrics reflected on fame, identity, and what truly matters.
In December 2024, Rosé released her debut full album rosie, a deeply personal 12-track project featuring the global mega-hit "APT." with Bruno Mars. The album showcased her singer-songwriter abilities with confessional lyrics about heartbreak, self-discovery, and growing up in the spotlight.
